• American River Conservancy – The Conservancy always welcomes volunteers to help with their wonderful natural history and children’s programs. For more information call them at (530) 621-1224.
• Coloma-Lotus Advisory Committee – The CLAC advises the County on community- and river-related issues in the Coloma Lotus Valley. It consists of seven appointed volunteer committee members who work with interested community members on issues of concern including river management, fire and emergency services, economics, parks and infrastructure, and more.
• Coloma-Lotus Business Council – The motto of our active Council is “promoting business and community in the Coloma-Lotus Valley.” The Council promotes the area through the printed Coloma-Lotus Guide and the Coloma.com and American River websites. It sponsors local events including the annual Spring Egg Hunt and the SouthForkFest. All local businesses and individuals are invited to join.
• Coloma-Lotus Fire Safe Council – Bringing together public and private organizations and neighbors to share information about defensible space and other fire-safe topics, create an emergency radio neighborhood network, and link related fire prevention programs in ways that save us money and time. The public safety issues we discuss will extend to general emergency preparedness and response, and greater community resilience overall.
• Gold Discovery Park Association – The GDPA is a non-profit, volunteer organization providing interpretation, education, and service at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma. They welcome volunteers and provide fun docent training. For more information call (530) 622-6198.
• Gold Trail Grange #452 – Gold Trail Grange, serving as the Coloma-Lotus Community Hall, is located in the heart of the Gold Country in the middle of Marshall Gold Discovery State Park. It is a historical building available to rent for weddings, wedding receptions, business meetings, community events, musical and educational events, and parties. • South Fork Arts and Recreation (SoFAR) is a non-profit organization in the South Fork American River Valley that seeks to inspire and teach music and art, advocate for and help provide recreational opportunities, and promote community involvement in Coloma, Lotus, and the surrounding area. SoFAR currently operates the Coloma Shuttle along the South Fork of the American River, produces wonderful music events such as the American River Music Festival and other special events throughout the year, and coordinates the Community Artwork Project for the Hwy 49 retaining wall at Lotus Road.
