California Creeks - Bill Tuthill's fun paddling site offers extensive descriptions and photos of many California rivers. (Formerly "California Creekin'.") Kaweah River - Bill Pooley's pages include current flow and river hazard information, along with photos, river descriptions and a boater news bulletin. Kern River - Sierra South's pages include up-to-date flow and river hazard information, along with photos and river descriptions for all the forks and runs. Sierra Nevada Whitewater - Brett Valle's cool and informative "Boof.com" site provides photographs and river descriptions of some of the state's most difficult whitewater, along with an active forum, classifieds and lots of links to boating resources. Paddling AssociationsAmerican Canoe Association (ACA) - The ACA is the largest and oldest organization devoted to paddlesports. American Whitewater Affiliation (AWA) - "The mission of the American Whitewater Affiliation is to conserve and restore America's whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely." National Organization of Whitewater Rodeos (NOWR) - The NOWR is a committee of the American Whitewater Affiliation (AWA). It was created in an effort to organize North America's growing number of whitewater rodeo events. North West Rafters Association - Active organization with 5 chapters located around Oregon. Site includes forum, information on northwest rivers and membership. The Trade Association of Paddle Sports - The professional trade association supporting the paddling industry in North America. Offers access to paddlesports businesses, products, services, and events in your area, as well as recent developments in the sport of paddling. Paddling Blogs & ForumsCaliRiver.com - CaliRiver provides California rafting news and blog posts from a variety of sources, including whitewater rafting outfitters, river news sites and individual contributors. The site also includes river descriptions. Dreamflows Forum - Active and well-moderated paddlers forum discusses flows, runs, access issues and hazards. Primarily California, but includes all western US rivers. Reference SitesAdventure Sports Online - Giant searchable directory for paddlesports and other outdoor recreation. Kayak Online - Good basic information about kayaking gear, plus lots of links to manufacturers and dealers. See Kayaking in California page for local links. Preston's Kayak Page - Comprehensive private pages and nice graphics too. Has not been updated recently, but still has useful information. Resource for Outdoor & Experiential Education Professionals - Links to articles from a variety of sources. Topics cover climbing, bear encounters to whitewater trips. RiverSport.com - Huge site with hundreds of links to paddling-related resources. Whitewater Sports on WWW - Extensive list on Search-Info.com Regional Paddling ClubsCalifornia Floaters Society - Paddling club for all types of river craft, including kayaks, rafts, catarafts, canoes, and river boards. Gold Country Paddlers - Active group promotes whitewater kayaking, canoeing and rafting with club trips, newsletter, and email list for sharing information and finding paddling partners. Lome Prieta Paddlers (LPP) - Active club in the South Bay (San Jose) area sponsore trips and roll sessions at a Los Altos pool. Mostly whitewater kayakers, but rafters, sea kayakers, and canoeists are also represented. LPP is a whitewater activity section of the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club. The Bay Chapter also has an active whitewater section. Napa Valley Whitewater Travelers Club - This Napa Valley group meets at the River City Restaurant Lounge, overlooking the Napa RIver. Penguin Paddlers Kayak & Canoe Club - An ACA Paddle Club of America, located in Northern California with headquarters in Redding. They enjoy paddling on lakes, calm rivers and the ocean. River City Paddlers - Group of Sacramento area paddlers with a primary focus on canoe and kayak races. Great community for those interested in training and competing in Eppie's and other flatwater or downriver races. River City Whitewater Club (RCWC) - A not-for-profit whitewater rafting club comprised of a close-knit group that enjoys safe paddling recreation. RCWC is based in Sacramento, and runs Northern California and western rivers. Website includes club information, trip reports and river safety. Sequoia Paddling Club - Active group affiliated with the Sierra Club and based in Santa Rosa. Club trips, other activities, conservation alerts, classifieds, links.
