Chili Bar Play Day 1996

About 50 boaters got together at Chili Bar on the South Fork of the American River Saturday, April 27, 1996, for an informal play-day rodeo -- no fees, no sponsors, no prizes, but "real" judges and lots of good clean fun. Thanks to Bob Knight and Susan Debret for putting this together!

This weekend was originally slated for the (sadly) cancelled Bob's Hole Rodeo, so competitors included travelling teams from Prijon, Savage Designs, and Wave Sports. Individual pros represented Perception and Dagger, and lots of local hotdogs came to join the fray. The pros showed off several prototypes and new boat designs. The flow was around 3700-4000.

The judges' credentials were impeccable, including several winners of previous Chili Bar Rodeos: Bob Knight, Linda Whitney, Louis Debret, Michael Snead, and Elsa Nervik. Spencer Rubin handled the megaphone.
