In November of 1998, a measure was introduced to the El Dorado County ballot that would reduce the number of commercial user days available to whitewater rafting outfitters. This controversial measure was opposed by many in the Coloma Valley, as it would have a negative impact on one of their major businesses. Fortunately for the area's economy, the measure failed.
Coloma Nessie
